A Skylight Bus Lines coach on the Great Ocean Road with the coastline behind it

Day tour coach charter from Melbourne

Great Ocean Road, Phillip Island and the wine regions — for groups who want the day done properly.

These are private charters, not scheduled seats on somebody else's itinerary. You choose the destination, the stops and the timing; we supply the coach, the driver and the part of the day nobody wants to be responsible for.

The coast, the wine regions and the goldfields

The Great Ocean Road and Phillip Island are the two most-asked-for days out of Melbourne, and both are longer than people expect — which is exactly why a driver who has done the road matters more than the itinerary does.

The wine and food regions — the Yarra Valley, the Mornington Peninsula, Daylesford and the Macedon Ranges — are the days where having a driver is the entire point: nobody has to skip the tasting or count drinks against the trip home.

Ballarat, Bendigo and Echuca are the heritage days, and they double as school excursion runs we know well. The Grampians and Wilsons Promontory are the walking and camp destinations, where the coach has to work around a trailhead rather than a car park.

Which roads suit which coach

This is the advice worth having before you book. Some of these destinations have roads or car parks that a full-size 57-seat coach simply should not attempt — the Dandenong Ranges is the clearest example — and the right answer is a smaller vehicle, not a heroic driver.

We will tell you which of our vehicles suits the day you are describing, including when the answer is a 24-seat midi coach rather than the bigger one you asked about.

Common questions

They are private charters — transport, driver and planning around your group's day. We are not a guided-tour company, and if your group wants commentary or a guide, arrange one and we will build the timing around them.

Yes — that is the point of chartering rather than buying seats. Tell us the destination, the stops that matter and roughly when you want to be back, and we will map a day that works.

Whichever suits the group size and the roads. Some destinations are genuinely unsuitable for a full-size coach, and we will say so and recommend a midi coach instead rather than send the wrong vehicle.

Weekends in spring and autumn and the run-up to Christmas are the busiest, and those book out first. There is no penalty for asking early, and we will tell you straight if a date is already gone.

Tell us where you need to be.

Share your trip and we'll put together a clear, fair quote — usually within the day.
